Student Relations Chair

If you enjoy interacting with college and university students and faculty, this is an energizing opportunity to introduce more of them to IABC. Our previous student relations chair would be happy to help you get started with ideas and contacts. Develop strategy and execute tactics to increase student recruitment and facilitate the development of new student chapters in our region.

2020 Regional Conference Chair (Two Co-Chairs Needed)

Our annual regional conference brings communications professionals together for two incredible days of best practice sharing, skills development, and networking. If you want to be part of something meaningful and memorable, consider joining our 2020 conference committee. The 2020 conference is expected to take place in the northeastern United States. Lead the team that makes it happen! In addition to planning the conference and leading a team of passionate volunteers, the co-chairs will be accountable for joining the monthly board meetings to provide updates on event plans.

Chapter Relations Committee

Here’s a chance to help our chapters thrive. You can work with our experienced Chapter Relations Chair and Liaisons, as well as our Region Growth and Development Chair, to share valuable ideas and resources with chapter leaders, help chapters overcome obstacles and help inactive chapters reactivate. Communications Support: Communications Specialist

Executing communication strategy and tactics is a natural fit for many business communicators who enjoy writing, editing, design, digital communication and more. This is also a valuable opportunity for those seeking to gain leadership experience. In this role, you can support internal communication within the region board and external communication enabling members and leaders across the 17-state IABC Heritage Region make the most of their experience. Communications Support: Webinar Specialist

To meet the needs of an increasingly dispersed member base, the Heritage Region offers webinars with an emphasis on substantive, engaging content. This role gives you an opportunity to organize, promote and evaluate program, embrace best practices, learn technical skills, help your colleagues develop professionally, supervise a webinar specialist and engage with outstanding professionals from across our 17-state region and beyond. Finance Support Specialist

This is a solid opportunity to grow and make a difference. It’s a transitional/shadowing role that will help you prepare to serve as region finance chair in the future. Professional budget experience is helpful but not required. You’ll have support from a professional bookkeeper and an opportunity to collaborate with other region leaders. You’ll observe and begin gaining valuable experience in creating a budget, managing financial processes, guiding strategic decisions and helping the region thrive.

Members-at-Large Support

In addition to chapters in various cities, the IABC Heritage Region has many members-at-large, each located at least 50 miles from an established chapter. The members-at-large chair is forming a new committee to attract, engage, and retain members-at-large while helping them gain the most from their IABC membership. Explore best practices, engage with new and renewing members-at-large, communicate member benefits and opportunities, and collaborate with professionals interested in learning, helping others and building a strong network. Silver Quill Committee

IABC Silver Quill Awards are presented to outstanding professionals in our region who have proven that their communication programs effectively furthered the goals of their organizations—boosting revenues, reducing cost, and motivating audiences to a desired action.

Be part of a creative and strategic team that helps professionals gain peer feedback and recognition for their best work. Whether you like to write copy, keep things organized, interact with entrants, manage evaluations, work with vendors, or prepare awardee recognition, this is a great opportunity to give back to the profession, meet new people and learn new skills.
